When I sit down to write it’s important to me that my creative juices are flowing freely; I want to make a lasting impact. I assume that others in creative fields feel the same way.
Inspiration and creativity don’t always arrive when you want them to and you don’t always have the time to wait until they show up; you need a plan.
Your brain wants you to express yourself. So it just might need a little encouragement to get going. Here are a few of my favorite ways to spark creativity:
5 Ways to Inspire Creativity
Create an encouraging space: Our soul yearns for harmony, peace and balance. Using music and silence to your advantage create a go-to space that is free from clutter and includes things that comfort you. Consider the art work, furniture, photography and colors that surround you. Everything in that space should bring feelings of happiness, peace or relaxation. If it doesn’t, get rid of it.
Remove the distractions: People that are naturally creative tend to be sensitive to their surroundings; lights and sounds especially. Shut the door, turn off the gadgets and take some much needed personal time. Your mission should be total relaxation of the mind and senses. If needed, meditation, breathing and music are excellent ways to relax.
Write: Stimulate a larger part of the brain by writing by hand. With ink, simple ideas can begin to grow and transform into something wonderful. Not sure where to start? Simply start by writing words and let your mind guide you. In no time at all, you’ll find you have a lot to say.
Have fun: Take a break from the mundane and do things you’ve never done before. Check out a new venue, take a daytrip, sign up for a class or simply change your routine. New experiences can wake up the brain, help you experience life in the moment and boost inspiration.
Explore Nature: We respond differently in natural settings. Nature can have a calming and tranquil effect on our mood and senses. Spending time outside can relieve stressors and spark creativity and passion. Surround yourself with vibrant colors and explore natural wonders whenever possible. You won’t regret it!
Not everyone has been gifted with an abundance of creativity; but it can be learned. Spend time surrounding yourself with people and things that move you and let the experiences of life inspire you. Rid yourself of negativity and distraction and pour your heart into creative expression. There is wonder and awe all around you, take advantage of it and live that kind of life.
