Since I suddenly feel as thougth Delaney and Cooper are growing up at ‘light-speed’, I feel compelled to share another sweet moment.
Jeff and I took them to see Horton Hears a Who tonight. At 3 and 1, they sat through (almost) the entire movie. Coop was fascinated by the whole production…from the popcorn he couldn’t stop eating to the constant observation of ‘eh-fant, Mommy’. (that is ‘elephant, Mommy’ in case you needed a toddler-ese translation) His entire experience was punctuated by little ‘Oh no’s!’ when he feared Horton was in trouble and sweet ‘Yeahs!’ and clapping when he figured things were giong well. He even let out a true kiddo giggle a few times.
Delaney was also mesmerized. What continues to amaze me about my sweet girl every day is her desire to operate like an adult. She wants to have conversations with me: “Mommy, what was your favorite part of the movie?” and “Mommy, did you like the little boy with black hair?”
I have a small child who is growing into a little friend.
I am grateful to Dr. Suess for giving me an evening to file away in my Mommy-Memory-Bank.
