I’m sure everyone’s bedtime with kids involves some serious routine….maybe even a few rituals. The same is true for us.
If it is up to me, we head upstairs 30-45 minutes BEFORE the actual bedtime of 8:30. I’ve been trying to move sleepy time up, but Daddy really wants to get his quality time in. In fact, when it is up to Daddy, we don’t head upstairs until 8:30.
PJ’s, ‘brush teef’, and, my favorite – bedtime prayers. It is just so sweet to watch Delaney and Coop come up with things they are thankful for. Delaney moves around to each of us with kisses as she says thank you for Mommy, Daddy, Coopy…and then her eyes wander as she tries to come up with other things to mention – butterflies, ‘bits’ (blankets), Care Bears, etc. Coop has finally started to make a list. Tonight, I got double prayers – ‘Mommy, Daddy, Damey, Mommy’. I’m twice as blessed as I was at this time yesterday, all thanks to my 1 year old.
But the extra special addition tonight was an impromptu spinning of Ring-around-the-Rosie, followed by the begging of ‘a-gin’…do it a-gin. Where did Rosie come from, you ask? I have no idea, beyond a guess: maybe because we were kneeling in a circle while we were praying?
So, two spins of Rosie and it is off to bed. Followed, soon, by me. Night-night!
