But I really, really want to be funny. Seriously. Not just slight-smirk-funny, more like fall-out-of-your-chair-my-face-hurts-funny. I can be silly (ask my kids) but not that funny (ask my husband). If, and that is an I to the capital F, if I am funny, my lovely, and truly hilarious husband will remark, “wow, that was kind of funny.” Not exaclty a ringing endorsement, now is it?
Is there a class I can take? Does someone offer degrees in ‘make your friends and neighbors giggle uncontrollably’? This funny thing is turning into a problem for me. Kind of like a mild addiction. I am so fascinated by funny people, truly witty folk, that I am ignoring my rapidly increasing pile of work in favor of reading funny blogs. Take for example Clemson Girl and the Coach. I just came across her blog. Like chatting with an old friend. I don’t know her. At all. But, I was laughing like I did. I know. I’m a dork.
And then there is Moo. She is witty and funny. And insightful.
And there are so many more…In the Trenches of Mommyhood…for example….quick hitters….her posts make me giggle. 🙂 And Barely Keeping It All Together…funny ladies….funny mommys!
Maybe part of what I love is the tendancy to make up names for everyone you’re talking about…The Ambassador, Middle, Hubby, The Servant, The Wild Child, the Politician, Punky and Bruiser.
Maybe there is just this beautiful collection of hilariouly talented women writers out there…..just dying to teach me the art of funnydom 🙂 I’m off to figure it out.
