You make a new friend online. You connect in person. You form an alliance, a partnership.
This is how it happens in this wild world of Social Media.
It is a beautiful thing.
And it is because of this beautiful thing that I get to share something special with you today. This falls into the category of ‘DREAM COME TRUE‘ for me.
This wonderful friend sent me an email a few months ago…. and in it she asked, “Are you writing a book? Do you want to?”
Picture my eyes widening, potential tears of pent of dreams welling slightly. Then picture me jumping up and down as I learn about this book, this project….
The lovely, brilliant, witty Aliza Sherman and I have a book deal and will be co-authoring a book to be released THIS SEPTEMBER. (as in 7 months from now) I know, I know….Danielle, get writing.
The title: Mom, Incorporated. – it is a guide to having a business….creating a business while having a baby (or babies and kids).
Our goal is to make this a handbook that allows moms to pursue their passion WHILE being there for their families.
There is much work to be done…. my brain is rapidly filling with ‘editor-speak’ and I’m now dreaming in Chapters, Cover Art, ARCs Editorial Calendars and all things Mom and Business. We are lucky, lucky, LUCKY to have an involved and committed editor and a publisher that truly believes in this project.
Included in the book will be real-life stories of moms who are making it happen….their best advice and naturally the challenges they’ve faced. If you would like to be included, we have a short survey. (Aside from your name, etc – there are only 4 basic questions) You know I would LOVE you to take just a few minutes to fill it out, right? Or feel free to send it to a friend who you think just might have the story we need.
To say that I am thrilled is an understatement. If you are not familiar with the brilliance that is Aliza Sherman – find her, follow her. Read her. She founded the first woman-owned Internet Company, Cybergrrl, in 1995…. and she truly hasn’t stopped. She speaks all over the world and has also created her own mobile strategy and apps development company, Mediaegg. (Mediaegg recently launched the first mobile app for the Wine Sisterhood called The Drink-u-lator to help calculate beverage purchases for parties and event. The app is available for iPhone and Android.) She has written EIGHT books (clearly she will be keeping me on track) and I am proud to call her a friend.
OK…. I’m done. I definitely need to be writing. (and interviewing! So, hop over to the survey)
