Like most mothers, I can still remember clearly the moments when my small people were truly small… when they barely toddled at waist level, when their teeth were still working their way in, when I could easily lift them on to my back – but I credit a certain favorite holiday tradition with helping to keep those memories bold and bright: we have family pictures taken each and every year. It is this beauty captured that reminds me of all of the small moments in my life that compile to make my world extraordinary.
It may sound like an indulgence, but it is one that offers us connection as a family, time spent laughing as we prepare and pose with our favorite photographer and keepsakes I will always treasure. It also, most specifically as my girl grows up, offers us valuable time together as we prepare for the photo shoot.
These are the pictures we use for our holiday cards, for gifts for grandparents and calendars and for adding to a growing array in our home.
Admittedly, this is a tradition closest to my heart, but my family humors me, allowing me to set the stage, choose our attire (coordinating, but not matching) and most specifically with my uber-athletic-small girl – even get her to go ‘hair down’. As I’m almost always a ‘hair down’ girl, I so enjoy this time with her – helping her to learn about caring for her hair and treating it so it will style as she wishes.
When she was tiny, she simply let me take over, but now we share the process together – this means she has begun to model portions of my beauty routine, which include products like Garnier® Whole Blends™ – specifically the Argan Oil & Cranberry Extracts line.
Not only is it paraben-free – which means it is gentle enough for everyday use, but we love the scent and know the Argan Oil extracts and product itself help to protect the color in our hair and deliver the shine we desire – which always comes through beautifully in pictures.
*sigh* Isn’t she lovely? That beautiful hair is most often in a ponytail as she heads to softball, basketball or soccer.
But ponytail or not, I love that I’m gifted with the opportunity to teach her how to care for it, honor the color and shine and keep it from drying out.
If your hair has different needs, the Garnier® Whole Blends™ family of hair care has products to match:
- Repairing: Honey Treasures
- Hydrating: Coconut Water & Vanilla Milk Extracts
- Smoothing: Coconut Oil & Cocoa Butter Extracts
- Nourishing: Avocado Oil & Shea Butter Extracts
- Refreshing: Green Apple & Green Tea Extracts
With our hair perfectly cared for, the big decision becomes only – which pictures do we love enough to hang up and send out?
Disclosure: I’m happy to have partnered with Garnier® Whole Blends™ to talk a bit about one of our favorite holiday traditions – as always – all thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone.
