It is time for a check-in.
Now that we are close to wrapping the first quarter of the new year, how are you doing on your resolutions? Have you veered off of them already or are you still hanging in there? If you have a long list of resolutions that you are trying to follow, it may feel pretty daunting, which makes it easy to give up. If you feel yourself slipping, you might want to take some steps now to be sure that you are able to stick with the resolutions that matter the most to you.
To help you out, here are some tips to keep you sticking with your resolutions all year long:
Take it one step at a time. If, in fact, you do have a long list of resolutions, you may consider cutting it back a little bit. Change is hard. You are not expected to change your entire life at once, so why not work on one or two things at a time? You aren’t giving up, you are simply rescheduling.
Use social media. Facebook is great for finding groups of like minded people to help cheer you on. If you are looking to lose weight, there are countless weight loss groups available. If you are working on your finances, there are thousands of budgeting groups and encouragement for college savings out there as well. You can basically find a group that is focused on anything you want. These groups are wonderful because members often share ideas and experiences that are helping them to reach their goals.
Talk to friends and family. Keeping your resolutions at the forefront of your mind is essential to success. Don’t keep them a secret. Make sure you talk to friends and family so that they can see the improvements that you are trying to make and they can, in turn, help to motivate you.
Celebrate small victories. Celebrating small victories is a great way to keep the momentum going in your resolution journey. For example, if your Resolution is to lose 50 pounds, be sure to celebrate as you go along. Once you lose your first 5 pounds, reward yourself with something you have been wanting or take a day to yourself. These little rewards will get you focused on the next reward.
How is your progress? I’d love to hear.

I love the idea of writing down your resolutions. It’s sometimes difficult to stay the course; but, if it’s written down, it’ll be easier to stay focused. Baby steps are key too! Can’t eat an elephant all in one sitting!

I believe people put so much emphasis on a big goal that we forget to celebrate little victories. Definitely celebrate little victories to prepare for bigger ones!
