The older I get, the more I’m reminded this is the ONLY body I get.
I was never under the impression a magical unicorn was going to come riding in with a replacement on my 30th…my 40th…or gasp (slow down….I still have quite a few years to go!) on my 50th birthday. However, there have been far too many days that I skipped the workout, ate too much cheese, or forgot the sunscreen.
While none of these are the best decisions, what I’ve decided makes them ‘careless’ is my role in this girl’s world.
I’m supposed to lead by example. If I don’t take care of myself, what is she learning? I want her to see value in a lifetime of self-care, not simply in the second act.
If I could go back, I wouldn’t ask for a flatter stomach, but I would make my skin an extra special priority.
So, I’m doing it now. And I’m making sure my small girl sees all the ways the peaceful steps in life – like yoga – can make a big difference.
Today, I’m over on SheKnows, talking about how adding this exercise to my life is helping my skin to radiate from the inside out. Among it’s many benefits, yoga is part of my anti-aging routine. Who knew that sweating, focusing on your core, and holding strong poses were a benefit to more than your muscles and mind? Stop on by to visit.
I’d love to know what you do to take care of your skin, your body and to set a healthy example for your kids.
