Now…when my girlfriend shared this story with me….I thought she HAD to be making it up, but you tell me what you think…. (BTW – my girlfriend lives out of state, and I’m not going to say where…and I changed a name to protect the innocent 🙂
A little boy is having a birthday party (he is about 8) and invitations go out to 2 different classes of kids…probably close to 25 in total. The party is going to be held at a kid-party-venue.
OK…so, you’re wondering, “what’s the big deal?”
Here’s where it gets good:Â At the bottom of the invitation, there is a note that says, “Tommy would really like a (fill in the blank with very pricey item) and we know it is too expensive for any of you to purchase, so, if you would, please give him gift cards for his birthday so he can save up to buy the item he wants.”
I know! Pick your jaw up off the floor! I am all for offering small suggestions (usually prefaced by a, “gifts are really not necessary”) when asked specifically what my child likes, but actually asking for money?? Wow…I’m amazed.
Faux Pas, no?
