Here I am again….focusing on gratitude.
We have a new family plan (I hope to call it a tradition one day). In addition to nightly prayers that always include ‘thank you’s’, we are STARTING each day with an expression of gratitude. Delaney can often come up with something sweet, today it was butterflies, letters and her stuffed snail. So far, Cooper sticks with the old stand-bys, “Mommy, Daddy, Damey” (Delaney) My list is a bit longer.
‘Hold you, Mommy’, ‘Yuv you, Mommy’, ‘How ’bout dat?’, ‘Mommy, catch’ , – I am grateful I can hear my sweet boy’s voice. I am grateful I can see my sweet girl’s MANY facial expressions, including the rapid eye-brow raising that has become a bit of a trademark.
I am grateful for baseball because it brings my husband such toddler-esque joy and Cooper can’t stop saying, ‘My bat, my ball’. I am grateful for small signs of love -an ‘I love you’ text message from my husband this morning.
Easter eggs, a clear head, bagels and icee mochas from Panera, cell phones, hot showers, down comforters, computers that work :), kind emails from strangers (who often become new friends), stuffed animals, a favorite teddy bear, a security blanket, and learning something new all top my list for today.
I also have to mention – Toddler smiles that melt my heart, Noggin for giving my kids something educational AND entertaining to watch, good neighbors, palm trees, prayer, great photographers, songs that tell a story, short sleeves and getting to go to the bathroom by myself.
The words ‘cascade’, ‘destiny’, ‘meditate’, ‘explore’, ‘conundrum’, ‘perplexing’, ‘tradition’ and ‘peaceful’ all fill me with a fun feeling.
Have a beautiful and grateful Saturday!
