OK, I admit it, I just can’t seem to get enough of the love my little ones give…so, I devise games that get me a little extra love.
Cooper has learned body parts…eyes, nose, ears, knees, hands, etc…but, by far, my favorite part to ask him to identify: Mommy’s cheeks. He will point to every thing you ask him to identify, but when I say, “Where are Mommy’s cheeks?”, he takes his sweet, chubby hands and places them on both of my cheeks, cupping my face. Our eyes lock and I can feel the Mommy-Son love running from him to me and back again. It is a sweet moment I am confident I will be recalling even on his wedding day.
My other trick, I stole from a girlfriend after witnessing her doing this with her girls….it is perfect for getting kisses! Everytime either of my kids asks for something: a snack, more milk, a chance to play outside, crayons, I say: “It is gonna cost ya!” And the cost: a kiss. It is such a little ritual, that Cooper will respond with an upturned face and a great big “MMMMMMM” as soon as I say it.
It gurantees me a little, much-needed kid affection. What Mommy doesn’t deserve more kisses and hugs?
