I’ve always considered myself a fairly ‘lucky’ person.
Lucky to have always had a roof over my head, to have been raised by parents who love me, to have been given the gift of an extraordinary education and now to have two healthy children who have the same things: a roof, love and the beginnings of an education.
I’ve also made it my life’s mission to surround myself by extraordinary women, doing extraordinary things to make this world of ours a brighter, more beautiful place.
Enter Christine Koh and Asha Dornfest. You’d think writing Minimalist Parenting – a bible of sorts for modern parents who recognize that our desire to provide a ‘good life’ for our children has lead to an excess and pressure that can easily be scaled back, giving us the life we want (and need) within our hearts and homes – would be enough on its own. But these women, these two I am proud to call friends, do more.
They are more.
They are helpers and givers, seekers and doers. Christine and Asha are not content merely to give you a parenting book that can guide you, changing the way manage your time and giving you permission to ‘do you’. Instead, they travel, meeting women, mothers in other parts of the world and ask, ‘how can we help?’.
The good news is, there is an answer to that question. Last year after writing Minimalist Parenting, the two traveled to Ethiopia with the ONE Campaign as members of the ONE Moms delegation and found themselves struck by the scarcity – in such stark contrast to the abundance we experience here at home. In that moment, they committed their energy to Women at Risk. According to this post on BostonMamas, this organization helps Ethiopian women lift themselves out of prostitution by providing them with practical support, job training, and viable employment.
And now, you too can help. Through the end of October, Christine and Asha are donating 100% of royalties on every purchase of Minimalist Parenting. And even more amazing – their publisher, Bibliomotion, is matching their donation on the first 100 copies of the book sold through this specific fundraiser.
So now… you…. understand this: you too, I suspect are a touch lucky, I think this book, Minimalist Parenting, would make your life infinitely better (it did mine) AND you, yes you, can #HelpWomenAtRisk. Make sure to use this special link for the fundraiser.
And? Thank you – from the very bottom of my heart.
