I have spent a lot of time thinking about Why Moms Matter. I feel very strongly that they do – so it is important to me to be able to articulate just WHY.
On Why Moms Matter on Blog Talk Radio, we have chatted with moms who have slept in hospital beds while their kids battled leukemia or received a heart transplant. We learned about a collection of moms who banded together to surround a grieving mother while she mourned the loss of a child.
We have heard from moms who have battled cancer themselves, some who have started their own businesses, some who work to save children suffering from malaria and others who have earned their Mommy-stripes by being a ‘get down on the floor and play kind of mom’ or the kind of mom who experiences life with her kids. We even spent an hour with a ‘celebrity mom’ who, as it turns out is just as ‘real’ as the rest of us.
But, at the end of the day – there are some qualities that we all share, whether we are triumphing over tragedy, battling through grief, balancing home life and work or living a relatively traditional existence:
We all love. We hurt when our kids hurt, we make it our mission to protect them. We spend each day as both teacher and student. We promise to give them every opportunity we can.
We are extraordinary, every day because we keep trying.
We muddle through the crazy days, cry through the hard ones and sometime climb under the covers in defeat. But we always get back out of bed.
We always try again.
In honor of you, moms – we have complied a beautiful EBook that we will be giving away for free – yes for free – because we think you deserve the reminder: You Matter. The book is filled with beautiful quotes from many of the people who nominated Moms they know and love, as well as stories about the highlighted moms we’ve been lucky enough to meet.
And, we think you will be moved by the beauty in the pictures you will see.
Join us on the WhyMomsMatter Blog Talk Radio Show , Friday, May 8th at 12:30PST/2:30CST for a special tribute to Moms – in honor of Mother’s Day.
