What can you say about one of the true loves of your life?
Dearest Coop (AKA Handsome, Coopy, Coop Diggity, Sweet boy, Little Man,)
2 years and 24 hours ago, I looked like this: I was one hour away from having you, my sweet blond baby
boy….you changed everything.
Daddy and I got to the hospital at 9 in the morning. I was induced, (a difficult delivery experience with my daughter forced my doctor to take extra precatutions…you won’t understand this until you are much, much older) I received my epidural and rested until you were ready to join us. Of course, I’d like to take credit for your sunny disposition and sweet nature since I literally laughed you into the world. Dr. told me to push…I did and then she made me laugh. You popped half way out and then I pulled you the rest of the way…right onto my tummy. You were divine from the first moment I laid eyes on you. Just this perfect little being.
You have brought pride and joy to your Daddy:
How could he not fall in love with
that World Series face?
You have filled our last two years with more amazing milestones than I can count….Good heavens…I really didn’t need you walking at 7 months. You looked like the dancing baby from Ally McBeal. Of course, I should have expected it with as much as you moved when I was pregnant. And, I think you may actually have been born with teeth (ok…it was 3 months, but still…you’ve been a little man-child from the very beginning)
More than anything, you have filled my world with love and sunshine, laughter and infectious giggles.
Just look at that face! I would give anything to make you smile like that every single day of your life.
You have been such a happy little guy…filled with love and hugs. Thank you for bringing that into our world.
Thank you for traveling with me…for being my little buddy. Thank you for your ‘kishes’, and your sharing heart. Thank you for saying ‘Mommy’, ‘hold you’ when you wanted to be held and puckering up for love whenever I asked.
Thank you for being a good sport….for loving your big sister ‘Damey’, for being her very best friend and for saying ‘cheese’ whenever I asked.
Thank you a million times over for sitting peacefully with Damey….letting her read to you and being excited to learn all the wisdom she has to share.
Thank you, my sweet, sweet boy, for ALWAYS making sure I know exactly what true joy looks like. You wear the expression on your face with such regularity, it has a permanent place in my brain and heart.
Thank you for adopting your Daddy’s sports teams like it is your job….thank you for knowing that Albert Pujols is number 5 and Yadier Molina is number 4. Thank you for singing ‘Take me out to the ball game’ with your daddy every night. (I know you ask for it, but I think he loves it even more than you do.)
Thank you for taking to the ball and the bat so well. You are keeping your daddy’s dreams of the 2024 baseball draft alive (and even though he wouldn’t want you to play if YOU didn’t want to…he’s so excited!)
Thank you for being Mommy’s little boy…for being the wow-you’re-growing-up-so-fast-big boy that now needs his own bed. Thank you for giving me high 5’s, for always saying ‘hi’ and ‘have a nice day’ to strangers, and for sleeping well (most of the time)
Happy, Happy, 2nd Birthday Coop! You (as my fabulous friend Mary always says) “are just a bundle of goodness!” You are squishy and soft, you are cuddly and cute, you are sweet and sassy, you are funny and oh-so-very ticklish. On this day, I wish you nothing but giggles and laughter (and lots of baseball), challenges that you can work through, a strong spirit that helps you to always ‘try again’ and the constant knowledge that your Mommy (and Daddy and Damey) will love you always.
Much love Always,
Mommy
